The Neil Simon Festival presents
Alfred Uhry’s masterpiece

DRIVING MISS DAISY

With the Stars of CBS-TV hits “Walker, Texas Ranger” and “Dallas”

Winner of the 1988 Pulitzer Prize and the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Play, Driving Miss Daisy is a warm-hearted, humorous and affecting study of the unlikely relationship between an aging, crotchety white Southern lady, and a proud, soft-spoken black man.  With race relations in the news almost daily these days, this masterpiece of a play becomes ever more poignant.

“The play is sweet without being mawkish, ameliorative, without being sanctimonious.” —NY Times.
“…a perfectly poised and shaped miniature on the odd-couple theme.” —NY Post.
“Playwrights Horizons has a winner in this one…gives off a warm glow of humane affirmation.” —Variety.
“DRIVING MISS DAISY is a total delight.” —NY Daily News.

The Neil Simon Festival presentation of this long-running Off-Broadway success and Academy Award-winning film, produced by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service Inc.,  brings together two of TV’s most beloved co-stars:

  • Clarence Gilyard, who played Chuck Norris’ Texas Ranger partner in the 1990s hit show Walker, Texas Ranger and who co-starred with Andy Griffith in the 1980s crime drama Matlock
  • Sheree J. Wilson,  who played April Stevens in the CBS-TV hit, Dallas for 5 years, and then played the lead female role of Alex Cahill during the entire 8 year run of Walker, Texas Ranger opposite Chuck Norris and Clarency Gilyard.

Clarence and Sheree each have millions of fans…and they have great on stage chemistry from their years working together on Walker, Texas Ranger.   This hit TV show is in syndication worldwide today; in the U.S., the show airs daily on TV Land, and weekly on the INSP tv network. CBS also aired 3 network Walker Movies, all highly rated and a 4th one is in the works.

Clarence, without Sheree, sold out performances of “Driving Miss Daisy” over the past 4 years. The two actors played Hoke and Miss Daisy in performances throughout the U.S. during calendar year 2015.   With the 2 stars together, you can anticipate strong ticket sales. The Media is always interested in interviewing legacy television stars; together the media coverage garnered nationally and in each city in which they perform will ensure brisk box office.
