“Music by Marvin Hamlisch”

A renowned concert hall chanteuse and cabaret artist, Valerie Lemon has performed across the United States as a concert soloist for composer Marvin Hamlisch.  Her  12 –year association with the Tony, Oscar, Emmy and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer resulted in Mr. Hamlisch writing a solo act for her that has been performed around the globe. Valerie is a four year veteran (2003-2007) of The Mabel Mercer Cabaret Convention and is proud to have helped inaugurate the continuation of the series at Rose Hall at Lincoln Center in 2005.

Valerie has appeared in New York City at Feinstein’s at the Regency, the famed Oak Room at the Algonquin, The Metropolitan Room, Helen’s Hideaway and Mama Rose, followed by engagements at the Sheldon Center in St. Louis, the Music Conservatory of Westchester and so many others. She was a featured performer at Carnegie Hall’s recital room, Weill Hall, and performs as a special guest with top cabaret stars such as Andrea Marcovicci and KT Sullivan. She has appeared in many off-Broadway productions and toured with Diana Rigg in the pre-Broadway tour of the musical Collette.

Valerie’s salute to the Music of Marvin Hamlisch is a warm, funny, elegant and sophisticated evening dedicated to the famed composer’s past and present triumphs.  Filled with stories of her travels with him on the road as a symphony vocalist, as well as tales of the huge influence he has had on her singing career, Valerie shines the spotlight on the man responsible for some of the best-loved songs of his generation.  From "The Way We Were" to the Pulitzer Prize winning score for A Chorus Line, the evening is filled with memorable music that clearly demonstrates why both Valerie and Marvin Hamlisch are “singular sensations”.
